If you find a photo of Tweedledum or dee I'm in one of the suits (the blue one) The suits were on loan from the BBC program It's A Knockout. I was in the suit at the entrance chatting up the lady punters ( it's amazing what you can get away with dressed like that) when Jen ( wife) and my son of approx. 18months rolled up, he thought it was great fun until I spoke. He immediately started screaming, he thought I'd been eaten. A little later a group of sea cadets came along and started taking the mickey, must've been something I said because next thing I new they were rolling me along the perimeter footpath.!!

Correspondence and more Its a Knockout Photos from Steve Bywater :-
Melanie Judy and Martin,
News of your reunion has reached me here in Cardiff (I was extradited to
South Wales in 1990). I have looked with interest at the photos on the
website realising that I am actually on one of them. That prompted me to
search out these old photos of the 'It's a Knockout' competition on Stanley
Park. It was so long ago that they are in black & white.
Neither of my
grandchildren could pick me out so I wonder just what the others look like
now?
I started on the GPO (which became Post Office Telephones & then BT) as an
apprentice in 1967. When I qualified in 1970 I joined Exchange Construction
with Les Lee, Tommy Cass, Ken Martin, Jim Ford, Pete Brown, Mick Alexandros,
John Burtonwood, John Carter etc etc based on Edward Street. In 1981 I took
Ray Clarke's job with the Radio Interference Service (with Alan Clayton &
Brian Philips) based on Moor Lane in Preston. I covered most of Lancashire
& Cumbria. When BT privatised in !984 the Service transferred into the
Department of Trade & Industry, ultimately becoming the Radiocommunications
Agency. In 1990 I took promotion as manager for Wales & moved to Cardiff.
In 2003 five Regulators came together to form the Office of Communications,
Ofcom. I took on the responsibility for both Scotland & Northern Ireland
becoming Manager of Spectrum Operations, Nations. In June 2006, following a
'review' I was made redundant and haven't looked back (or for work for that
matter) since. I'm 57 now & worked for almost 40 years, I'm enjoying doing
what I want to do for a change.
Have a great night in November.
All the best to everyone who remembers me.
Steve Bywater
PS - Ignore what John Carter says about being in a Tweedledum/Dee suit, he
really looked like that, we just painted him blue?
Final set of Sue Ogden Photo's placed on the website.
